Why Planning and Prayer Go Hand-in-Hand
God is a God of order. From creation itself to the quiet rhythms of our days, He invites us to live intentionally. But He also reminds us not to lean on our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5–6). That’s where prayerful planning begins.
Before setting goals or listing tasks, take time to ask:
-
Lord, what do You want my focus to be this month?
-
Are there areas I’ve been rushing ahead without You?
-
Where are You calling me to be still—and where are You asking me to step forward in faith?
This type of prayer shifts the tone of our planning. It turns our to-do lists into tools of worship and makes space for God to direct our steps, not just our schedules.
Practical Ways to Plan with Jesus
Here are some ways to align your monthly planning with prayer and scripture:
-
Start with Stillness. Before you write anything, take a few moments to sit quietly with the Lord. Ask Him to bring to mind the things He wants you to prioritize this month.
-
Invite the Word In. Use scripture to guide your mindset. Verses like “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom” (Psalm 90:12) can help you approach your time with humility and trust.
-
Write Down Prayers Alongside Plans. In your Living in Light planner, pair your goals or events with short prayers. For example: “Zoom meeting at 10AM — Lord, give me wisdom and grace as I speak.” Prayer turns routine moments into sacred ones.
-
Leave Margin for God to Move. Not every day needs to be filled. Leave space for rest, reflection, and the unexpected. Often, God does His deepest work in the margins.
Let April Be a Month of Aligned Intentions
This month, resist the urge to plan from a place of pressure. Instead, plan from a place of peace.
Use your planner not just to organize your schedule, but to anchor your soul. Let it be a space where faith meets focus—a place where you’re reminded that you’re not doing this month alone.
Your goals can be meaningful. Your days can be fruitful. But only when they’re rooted in His will and guided by His Spirit.
